Is my chipper blunt?

Hired a chipper for the weekend. 
was hoping to make use of the chip but wtf? Looks like a crows nest. 
Wood was fresh cut apple rootstocks that had got too big. So 3-4” at the base. 
My sons small petrol chipper did a much better job but slower and had to trim the bottom tee foot off.

Prolly, and with a round anvil as well.

Was the roller clamping them down or was it rattling around like a penny in a tin can ?.

 

Obviously a picture would be good, but I've had slivers on a TP machine when the counter blades in the feed aren't tight enough against the blades, so it wittles instead of slices.

Don’t think I would pay for the hire the logs should have gone through like a rat up a drain

They went through ok to start with but seemed to struggle by the end of the day. Have to admit I was struggling by then too. 
I got the rootstocks cut down and chipped yesterday which was what was needed but I had more stuff lined up for today but couldn’t be arsed with another day with it not working right.

That edge should be sharp, it’s totally blunt. 
How clean was the material you were chipping? Any soil contamination at all?

That’s worse than blunt anvil to blade should be a fag paper I’ve seen sharper hammer mills

It's even got a step where they've not even bothered to sharpen it properly.

 

Plus that's not a gap it's a gorge!.
