(Should be moving to the Climate Change thread but I think the whole thing is a joke anyway, so why not continue playing Devil's Advocate for a bit?)

...They would be building EVs for us, using fossil fuel. We're just offshoring our emissions. The fundamental fact is fossil fuel underpins prosperity, as we understand the term. There is no other known energy source that comes close in terms of effort vs return. And there's lots of fossil fuel left. And they want to eat meat as well.

But remember - most of the damage - WE did in the 20th Century is irreversible ( Nuclear bomb testing / WW2 / oil exploration - use ) it is up to US to come up with counter measures , reforestation , bio re-engineering ( better tree types ?? ) marine havens , population control in certain areas ( Romford ) responsible use of energy etc , its do-able fellas . Planet does not NEED us , but it will be a stain on the Human species to leave a shit hole K

It's not reversible if the East keeps using fossil fuel. To have a 50/50 chance of avoiding mass extinction, the WHOLE WORLD has to go zero emissions before 2030. After that it will be too late. Do do dispute this, Khriss? It's what 97% of climate scientists are saying.

Frankly am not putting dates on it, cos would not trust US to get it right - but even on human timescale , it's imminent.  K

The Spanish flu came in two waves.
A virulent but mild flu over the winter of 17/18
2-5% mortality rate.
Then in August of 18 it evolved into a virulent and deadlier version.
By October millions were dead.
The death rate rose to between 30-80%
In the following 18 months it killed more people than both world wars put together.
Curiously those who were infected with the first wave were immune to the next one.
