yeah, i don't mind doing it, just think i should get paid more for the least enjoyable parts of the job.

i'd get more money for climbing all day than i would for chipping all day, if i got paid for the enjoyment factor, i'd be on £250 a day for chipping and £30 for climbing

I get paid to complete the job. More often than not I am paid for the climbing aspect but the job isn't over till we go home. If it means logging, dragging, feeding a chipper, raking, blowing or speaking to the customer. I just wish some people had the same sense of urgency as myself and some of the guys I work with. Job satisfaction comes from the completed job IMO.

i completely agree. my point is that, i personally, don't do this job for the money. i do it because i enjoy it. even the less enjoyable parts of it. i'd rather chip all day for £70 than sit in an office all day for £120 but i'd rather climb all day for £50 (don't tell my boss!!)

you don't do this work because of the money you get paid, it's a lifestyle choice.

you do it because you get to tell chicks that you climb trees all day!!!

In my experience, employers will pay you what they can get away with paying, not what you should be getting paid in terms of how valuable you are, in terms of productivity etc, to the business. If you aren't happy with what your being paid - speak up. If your employer wants to keep you and thinks your worth it then he'll up your wages. If he doesn't, and he knows he can replace you - he wont.
