Here is a general thought, if the driver has stopped and put their hazard lights on, then they know they are causing a hazard, a potential for an accident. So if it isn't a genuine emergency and a hazard, I think the police would be will within reason for dangerous driving, or without due care and attention. Regardless - logs or dropping off a take away, whatever. They know they are a danger, warning others

Slight derail, but a similar thing I find so annoying: Firm come and dismantle large roadside standing tree, technical job, maybe using big mewp or even a crane; they then leave the 3ft diameter stump, which is not going to be ground out, with a horribly messy uneven cut from both sides, that has an inch difference in height between the two sides. I understand leaving it at 2-3ft so it is not a trip hazard, but if you have the kit and ability to dismantle the tree just have enough pride in the work to leave a tidy stump. I often put a bevel around the edge of stump if the customer agrees it will look better. There is an oak stump up our lane that has been left liek this by the council contractors. Sooner or later I will go and make it tidy.

Wind can stop now, I have enough fire wood for 2024 / 2025 season now....

 

(going to cost me to replace what has just come down, not sure whether to go Scots Pine, Spruce or broadleaf - Beech, Birch or maybe an Oak. Willow along the river bank was planted last year so should take off this year)

Mums, (and it does normally seem to be), dropping kids off at school and using the hazards to legitimise some truly outrageous parking positions is the most offensive use of them in my eyes. That's nothing compared to leaving the engine idling for minutes on end though, right outside the school, that really pisses me off! But I digress.

I had to slalom past a long line of Audi Q7s in a fairly well-to-do Essex village this morning. Was about to get annoyed with one of the offenders returning to her littledarling-wagon but she was dressed quite agreeably. Let her off with a warning.
