Add it to the mountain i have already, and every now and then get rid of a load of it at once to a landscaper i know, and offer it to anyone who cares to take it away. Most people offer payment.

how fresh does the chip have to be ?? do you buy chip inn ??

Prefer fresh as less chance of fungal spores. (less than 2 weeks old)

We do buy chip in at the right price but we do not pay for water. Price paid per tonne of dried product.

I often have 4 or 5 cubic metres of saw dust a week but just put it in the incinerator. Shame but anything else I have tried just costs me in time or plastic bags.

How much do you pay for chip? Does it matter about the quality? Im just setting up and looking for places in bolton.

At the moment were just offering a free tip site at the farm as we have a large volume stock piled. Quality of chip is not as important as being fresh as rotting chip is difficult to handle. Obviously foreign bodies such as metal, glass and stones are a definite no no.

My thoughts are, as i've seen it happen....keep building up the pile with a tractor.

1/2/3/4yrs on and the compost has got to be good value, trailer load or bagged up. ££££'s

The stuff i've seen was the highest grade, and a golf course would have paid a premium if mixed with sand.
