  9. Im looking for a tip site around bolton lancashire. Preferably take logs aswell. Any info would be appreciated cheers
  10. I m extremely interested in this. What exactly does it entail?????
  11. Just a quick one. Im new at this milling and i want to make some nice garden furninture. Picnic benches and the like. When the wood is planked, how do you stop it from splitting when its drying??????
  12. I see what your saying there. Never thought of that. But then again ive never had my prussik slip before.
  13. Its certainly something im going to consider carefully over the next few days. Maybe have a practise and see what works best. This is why i love this site.
  14. Plus, no real weight is being added to the tibloc. The weight is on the prussik. The only weight on the block is the pulley and the force required to moved an unloaded prussik up the line. I can only envisage the block lightly grabbing the rope. If all my weight was on the block i could see why the damage outweighs the practicality but as its lightly loaded it will only grip the rope with minimal force?????
  15. The prussik wouldnt drag it because the slack would feed up over the anchor point until the slack was gone. I cant see how it would srag it down. The prussik wont move down the line unless pulled on.
  16. instead of a tibloc, would a micro grab be more suitable??? No wear on the rope does a similar job !!?!?!?!?!??!
  17. The grey's never asked to be brought or born here. I suppose there has to be a compromise between ethics and science. Plus grey squirrels are very tasty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Brilliant. That is just the thing im missing and never knew i was missing it. So simple, so effective. 2013 climbing should be fun
  19. Ive been climbing climbing on a prussik since i began 8 years ago. Eveyone else has fancy gadgets and gizmo's but no matter how far they pull the rope through, they still have to stop and feed the slack out. That video has made my day. Where can i bet one and is petzl block its full name?
  20. most usually pick it up. If its fresh we usually just blow it into the border with our little blower. If they flatly refuse to shift it week uopn week we mow the the offending turd into a big long **** streak and they soon get the idea. 99% wont get sucked into the blades and get spread with the roller. Just mind your feet.
  21. If your doing it part time, ask local tree surgeons etc what they do with there wood. Usually most want rid so will drop it off for you, just happy to get rid of it. It will however want splitting and drying first before you can sell it on.
  22. Did a reduction and crown raise on a large sycamore in the coldest harshest rain ive seen for a long time. Wasnt raining when i went up but was quarter the way into the job when it hit. I decided to carry on and finish but i was freezing cold, wet to the bone and shivering uncontrollably. In hind site i should of stopped it was getting slippy and dangerous. If it was bad to start with i wouldnt have bothered even turning up.
  23. Had it a couple of months ago. Got up a 5.30 am. Set off for the yard at 6.30 am. Felt absolutely fine. Got to yard and threw my ring up 4 times. Felt fine. Had to stop on the motorway to puke. Felt fine. Got to job, threw up twice and felt bloody awful. Cold, shivering, shits, uncontrollable vomiting, dizzy, light headed. Spent the day in the site office. Fell asleep on the way home. Got in bed for 6pm and felt amazing in the morning like nothing was wrong.
  24. Thanks guys. I will contact you in the future to sort drop offs etc
