Which Bandit, so is it a petrol or diesel engine? I've got stuck in the back of my head that high exhaust temperature can be an indicator of lean running, if it's petrol, so I'd pop the plugs out and see what they tell you now.

If you had it serviced they might have put new ones in anyway but I think you'll quickly see evidence if they are overheating.

Yes it’s a kohler 25hp petrol engine

yeah had new spark plugs

Look at the colour and condition of deposits, Google it up for a chart. Used to be one of the only colour print pages in Haynes manual back in the day.

I sent NGK a picture of a strikingly green plug I found recently in case they wanted it for that page. Rudey poos didn’t even reply.

Retarded timing...

This means that the charge is still in the process of burning when it exits the cylinder, thus giving rise to very high exhaust gas temperatures..

john..

An interesting comment. You could possibly put a mark on the ignition flywheel and strobe it to see if you get any form of advance and retard when the engine is revved....assuming the engine has some sort of advance/retard device or mechanism.
