The Missus has gone and got a 64plate Evoque. Previously had a BMW Mini and is a named driver on my Disco 4 and covered too on the GreenMech Ranger tow tug. Churchill insure the Disco but decline to quote and it seems that it is expensive to insure - even Saga (she is only just +50) want and eye watering £1900 pa, but then, Saga is a scammy organisation that preys on us oldies! Cheapest so far is £730. Anyone know of a good source of insurance?

If she has not had her own policy before, £730 sounds very good.

My suggestion is to say to her "Why the hell didn't you check before committing yourself?".  That is what my misses would say to me.  And she would call me an idiot.

I always check with Compare The Market. All 3 vehicle policies shot up this year. On compare the market, on one policy my existing company was still the cheapest.

Another policy renewal I got a cheaper quote ,  so cancelled existing renewal.- on cancelling online it offered me about £120 off renewal- too late as already paid new one and wasn't gonna arse about. Bit annoying - they should have knocked it off to start with..

Policies gone up way more than inflation...

Done some digging and a couple of calls later, it transpires that the insurance market is very wary of vehicles which have keyless entry, although, no one could tell me the real difference between a key fob sending a signal at the press of a button or a key fob that interacts with the vehicle without you pressing the button. Actuarial statistics show that these get pinched more than others! The market is awash with Evoques too......

For the record, she has been driven since 87, never claimed and has a clean licence! A comparison site showed some staggering results from 700 upto £4,500! These folk don't even wear a mask when they rob you!

is this because the key less one can get interrogated by a relay device and that then sends the signal to unlock the door with no buttons to press. same device then enables ecu to start car.

The key fob one only sends out the signal when you press the button, but with the keyless one it sends the signal regardless doesn't it (near a window or door for example)? So you can put your relay device near a house a capture the keyless signal but the only way to do that with a fob is if the fob button is also pressed
