The trick is a second man in the basket. One cuts, one throws. Share the burden. Revert to one if the ground needs a hand.

Rigging on picker jobs isn’t illegal either btw. Another advantage of two up. One can get dropped in the tree and picked up from a different place later.

With my previous MEWP we often had two men in the basket, but with my new one it gives brilliant outreach, but no so good for two men's weight a long way out. I have done loads of rigging from my MEWPS, but sometimes you just have to cut and throw - even when proficient, rigging takes time to get the rope back up etc. Horses for courses I guess.

My first 13o crewcab came with big bull bar affair and capstan winch driven of a dog gear on the crankshaft pulley. But, it seemed to shockload the gland and it would start to come undone! I was visiting my local Ag Engineer one day and his apprentice had the welder going outside, I asked him to put a decent tack against the gland nut and went in to the office. Found out later he had seamed 3 faces! The engine was a struggle to keep oil in after and never got rebuilt!

Thoughts and prayers. I have a mewp booked on Tuesday for loads of gangly ash over a pair of sheds. A few big bits possible, but lots of twigs to lob too.

Man, I love it when the mewp gets delivered at 1130. Downed tools at 1800. Still got a bit to do with it tomorrow.

Couldn't even be angry with the delivery driver, he was such a happy chap, and it probably wasn't his fault anyway.

Looks a bit like kindergarten alongside what some of you get up to but it keeps me active.

Nonsense, that bit was chunky enough. That could have ruined someone's roof if you threw it down on one.

Fault or not, he’s the envoy. He doesn’t need to be trying to kill himself like a disgraced samurai, wracked with shame that will taint his bloodline for generations to come but he needs to start with sorry and not look happy that your day’s been ruined.
