Timberwolf 150 radiator replacement or repair

Hi,

 

my Timberwolf 150 radiator sprung a leak today. So brought it home before using it and doing any damage.

 

I understand most company’s can recore the existing radiator for £150-£200 ish. 
 

Alternatively I spotted an aftermarket Ali radiator for sale on eBay for £450. 
 

Wondering if anyone has experience using this one or should I go ahead and repair the original. What’s drawing me to the newer one is it’s all aluminium…. No plastic top and bottom sections. 
 

any help/advice appreciated.

Can you recore a plastic radiator? I had an 2002 150’s recored but they made them out of decent stuff back then and was told they could not of done it if it was a newer machine.

They wouldn’t recore a plastic rad here.

Had to buy new, pricey, but there you go.

Ahhh ok thank you. Just going from a quick conversation on the phone to a radiator repair company. 
 

If that’s the case may just bite the bullet on the aluminium one, as new ones from the likes of spectrum plant are again plastic.

Google Wrexham Radiators - they will see you right (if it can be fixed they will fix it, if it can’t they’ll supply you one at the right money). Wonderful people!

I’m afraid I have already ordered that one from eBay.

I think when our 230 rad got busted I got one from Wrexham at about 1/4 the cost of genuine, just quote all the numbers off old one .

Last one I had recored was Arrow Radiators Avonmouth

From our experience with recore radiators they will do metal "capped" ones, but not plastic. 

 

A new radiator through a Kubota engine dealer is usually about £600 odd ex vat.
