I wonder if a handheld post knocker vibrating away is any less wear and tear on  the joints in your arms and shoulders than swinging a fencing maul about?

It does vibrate a bit, but far less effort and you wont get as worn out, or damage the top of the post, or have to climb a step ladder to swing the maul!

It's not great on larger posts in stoney ground, unless you prime the hole to begin  with. Other than that, it's a great bit of kit

£1800 for honda version  but there  are other 4 and 2 strokes ones for as low as under £300 -  but im guessing its abit like chainsaws you get what you pay for?

Correct. I cant comment on how good the cheaper ones are, but this is a tried and tested machine with positive feedback, built to last

Hi, same but different, I've got about 150 to thump in and my hand post driver gets b heavy after the first dozen, so was thinking about a post hole borer, sandy clay so ok to drill into. 100mm posts and at 1.8 metres a bit of a lift to get anything over the top. What do you think?

Can't you hire one of those post knockers for the back of the tractor or machine? In your soil I would imagine they would work fine. Never used one myself but to do 150 posts I would have thought machine would be the best option. Lumag do post hole borer or hand post driver for small money.

PM me, I'm at Midhurst and have a hydraulic version available for hire. Or can do it with digger and post knocker.
