Sycamores-weeds?

We cut a block of sycamore 2 years ago, and the whole lot went for firewood. I was disgusted, as a lot of it was nice quality.

from my point of view (conservation back ground) fell the lot!

 

they support little wildlife, creat a dense canopy and nothing grows beneth them, causing problems with them in hedge rows and leaving ground prone to erosion, but for every one I fell an ash or oak is replanted in place of the sycamore.

ed that first picture looks odd. its hard to work out the scale, the house looks like a little kids wendy house. the pic of your kid just made it even better.

Railways regard these things as "problem species"....Its not all good is it? Between a rock and a hard place...they are undervalued by conservationists and disregarded by developers but we all know they are capableof being a thing of great beauty and aesthetic appeal in amenity situations....It figures that a tree so readily able to set seed and colonise on almost any soil should produce a high number of specimens I'd probably rather see replaced by other trees. Love em and love to hate them!!

Thats not a child, its a full grown tree surgeon holding a custom built husky style saw based on a 900

like them or not but they keep us all in work!! its also great for floor boarding, this is going to be my next project, sycamore floor in my kitchen:icon14:

They support near to no wildlife!

 

You want to try climbing in them or cutting them down on a nightshift in the summer when its raining them little bastard greenfly hide on the under side of the leaves and not just a few!. Swarms of the shits stick to you and get in your earmuffs under your helmet under your clothes and in your mouth!

Ever since then i hate Sycamore.

Greenfly a problem? Just inhale and treat them as extra protein in your diet

I dont mind greenfly, they dont taste too bad, its the little black ones that taste bad.
