Fire going out dependent on weather, room pressure?

Recommended Posts

Having sorted out my oak problem by making logs smaller I now have another worse issue!

fore can be happily roaring away and will suddenly go out and fill room with smoke (door is closed)

seems to be dependent on weather/wind outside and opening a room window relights it?

Don’t think it’s lack of oxygen as have added a direct air duct to go along with air coming from room

Could it be blowback coming down flue? Or difference in pressure?

this shouldn’t be so complicated…lol

If your chimney is not above the apex by a decent amount you could get this problem with with wind in certain directions . Also I would try blocking your " air from the outside vent " and just see if pulling it from the room stops the problem . Could be one fighting against the other . Must be a right pain . I don't have any of these problems

Omit the no, it would prove your not getting enough fresh air to the fire.

I don't care how big the room or house is, if you open a window and the fire roars.

Then the fireplace isn't getting enough air to operate via the room sealed air supply vent.
