I have used tek sticther screws to give a bit of purchase on a steel sheet, no reason they wouldn't work on aluminium.

a 16mm self tapper won't come close to being any trouble on the underside, the ramps are probably about 120mm deep in total

Fair enough, I've only ever used the Brian James ramps, just two plain slippy metal troughs.

 

Old, basic but gets a vehicle up and on.

After reading this, I think I'll ask Didier if he can put beads of weld along the treads.

How about  (cut  to size) the   rubber matting they use of horse box ramps etc

Best way as no strength loss by drilling holes. 

Or runs of weld
