sorry a bit of a random question, i have to get from heathrow airport to guilford on friday morning just wondering peoples thoughts on the best route, i dont have  a satnav, so a bit oldskool.

thanks carl

Depends what time in the morning; leave the airport by the tunnel then M4 West one junction onto M25 anticlockwise 4 junctions to A3 southbound to Guildford.

You will sit in traffic as you approach the  M3 till past J11 and queue  on the off slip at Jl0 before 11:00 but it still beats the back roads most of the time unless there is an accident. Get over to lane 3 as you approach the M3 and move into lane one about 2 miles after J11

I do it regularly, despite what the M25 is like your quickest and easiest route will be M25 then down A3.  Or come off M25 a couple of junctions earlier onto M3, down to Lightwater junction and follow road through bisley etc to guildford.

No secret short cuts really, that save any amount of time.

It very much depends on the time you are traveling, morning or evening rush hour will be murder, after 9.30 until 3.30 will be fine. Fridays are generally lighter traffic but are murder after 2.30.

I did that section of the M25 regularly and it is M25 and A3...just pick your times!!
