Avant 420 electric fuel pump

Whilst turning key, to ON. (Not heater plugs) is it normal to hear the continuous clicking of the electric fuel pump? Engine is Kubota D722. Never noticed it till now. Think it's normal, but would like confirmation please.

I thought the pump is mechanical the ticking is the fuel stop solenoid

Thanks. I'm wondering if some are mechanical and some electric. A bloke on an Avant Facebook page had said his 423 has done exactly the same as mine since new. (not same engine, I know)

To be asking this type of question you never looked in engine bay. 

Could be filters need changing, as pump is working harder so you hear it.

Most things I've had with a kubota diesel have a 12v pump and you can hear it clicking etc as it pumps fuel just with ignition on

If I can remember I take a quick video of the noise the 12v pump I fitted to my grinder makes and send it via whatts app. In the morn.
