I have rheumatoid arthritis coming on.

 

Obviously I need an XPG

 

Ordered one in August with a one month wait from a good supplier that advertises on this website.

 

They have revised their delivery and have now stated mid December, now this isn't a complaint, but is this the industry standard now?

 

I didn't think I was asking for something especially niche!

Im not sure why but since covid and brexit  etc getting hold of rdm everything is like looking for rocking horse shit.

Hearing all the time about folk waiting for something or other.

At work we've been waiting a while for various new Stihl saws, and had a tipper trailer ordered forever.

 

I won't pretend to know what the reasons are, but it seems we'll need to get used to waiting for stuff.

Everything's getting delayed at the moment. Some machinery is 12-18months wait. With saws I've found it's worth visiting/calling a few local dealers to see if they have any on the shelf, even if it comes without a bar.

I was just going to say that, Stihl saws patchy online but our local dealer had plenty when I was last in.

Pretty much. Stihl have taken their heated handle models off the order list. As for delivery dates there hit and miss. Husqvarna being the worst. We don't know if we're getting it till we get the invoice a day prior. Still waiting for stuff ordered last year. I know in some cases that wiring etc was made in Ukraine which hasn't helped matters

Ukraine, and we're still in the ripples in the global supply chains from COVID. China lockdowns, containers in the wrong place, Germany lockdowns, etc etc.

China had a lot of issues beginning of the year with their zero Covid policies.

 

A major issue short and medium term I can see now is the £ to $ exchange rate. It hit £1 = $1.08 yesterday - that is the lowest since 1985.

 

If it falls below $1.05 then that is the lowest in history. It may bounce back up but we could live in a world soon where the $ is higher than the £. That would almost stop us from importing some products.

 

Almost everything we buy is in the $ so in effect it puts prices up by 25% on top of all the other price rises that have gone on.

I looked at the equivalent stihl. It's 40% more expensive.

 

I'm sure they are good, but I have my doubts they are that good to justify the extra cost.

 

I tend to enjoy buying German made stuff, but I've got to draw a line at that and leave it to the most dedicated stihl fans.
