£750k for a used Ford Escort??

Must be the light as one looks blue other grey.

 

A decent fully restored road legal fergy would be around 4k, plenty of unrestored ones around 3k, I've always preferred the TEF diesel Perkins version.

 

So guessing with the queen connection 4/5 maybe a little more if it's road legal and if you can find more paperwork or possibly pictures with the queen driving it with the numberplate.

Series one RS turbos fetch stupid money any way… I really regret selling mine for 2k 20 years back and getting a series 2 which was a massive mistake at the time anyway…  when you are now seeing them go for 20k+.. I think the other thing was the whole run was done in white at the factory with the exception of princess Diana’s as she wanted a black one , made it that bit more special. 
folk are mad for those RS fords and always have been , I remember my mates dad had a mk 1 lotus escort shell that made 20k just for the log book and chassis number as the thing had rusted away and that was back when I had mine.

there was a mk 1 Escort that sold at auction in Holland a couple of years back, it was type of complete, it had been stood outside for near on 30yrs so had vast amounts of rot, which i would of said was far beyond salvage, vin number was 0000000004 so number 4 off the production line, it made 48000 euro !!

I regret not keeping the Escort I built in 1975  Mk 1 RS bodyshell brand new in grey primer from Ford AVO for £270 fitted with 3 litre V6 and overdrive gearbox from a Gilbern RS brakes etc.  Sold the bodyshell in 1990 to a grasstrack racer from Skegness for £50!  Engine and drivetrain still going strong in a Dutton Phaeton

Hine sight is a wounderful thing and we have all made the mistakes, late 70s early 80s i had circa a dozen Yamaha FS1E,s go through my hands, used to buy one for a fiver or a tenner get it running and then sell it on for 30-40 quid, all so had DT125s 175s Rd 200 and 250s, but back then they where worth nothing but now very sought after, a elderly neighbour of mine has a MK1 2 door Escort on a F plate and every time i see him i ask have you sold that car yet, and his answer is could of sold it dozen times today, Only good move i made was getting away from Jap bikes in the early 90s and buying my childhood dream,
