These are my courgettes from yesterday, the marrows are underneath. I think I have overdone them but it has worked out well, due to the drought my geese have no grass. They do have marrows. :D

Also have a massive surplus of kale which they prefer. So rather than preserving them I am using them to preserve my geese.

 

Made about 40 jars of strawberry jam plus raspberry jam and my favourite is gooseberry jam. Also made strawberry, raspberry, gooseberry and rhubarb gins and vodkas, they are my favourite "preserves". Very quick to make and none of this keep it until after Christmas malarkey you get with sloe gin, they are more than ready in just a fortnight.

So I got round to making a batch of Sauerkraut last night. Should be ready in a few weeks, month or so. Not my own cabbages unfortunately, but maybe this coming autumn if they do well.

Me and the boy picked some plums yesterday. Amazing how many you can get in about 15 minutes from quite a small tree, with plenty eaten along the way.

Nothing fancy this time, just stewed them up to be eaten in the winter with yoghurt or custard.

 

These have been remarkablly maggot free. In all that lot that we stoned prior to bottling there was not one with any maggots in. A handful starting to go rotten/overripe/mouldy but that was it.

Brace yourself............. but it's German mate, German. A genuine Sauerkraut Crock Pot. (No nasty Lead in the glaze apparently).

 

The built in air lock on the rim is great.

 

I need to make another batch soon actually, as we've almost run out of stock.
