i don't want to give the wrong impression, i have been using chainsaws fro a good while and i am careful, that's why i posted :biggrin:

 

just can't recall where ive seen it, but it involved making two cuts in the compressed face, then upcutting at one or the other sides to stop the stem collapsing:confused1:

 

could have been one of my dreams:blushing:

Fellas what do you call the cut that works on really heavy laterals?

 

2 undercuts at about 45 degrees meeting in the centre, top cut slightly back.

 

Can't remember the bloody name!

 

Sounds like this would work in this situation, but upside down as such.

Slippery, could you be thinking of the technique whereby you make several (4-5) spaced shallow cuts on the compression side to release some tension before making the tension side cut?
