If I've got my history right, the ancient Scots (Picts) were an indigenous people to the British isles, who no longer exist. The modern Scots actually migrated from Ireland. Ireland was Scotia Major, to the Romans, and northern Britain was Scotia Minor. They were Gaels (Celts) originally from Spain, and further afield.
