2511 cold start issue

Hi,

My 2511 will not fire on the choke setting (well maybe 1 in 10 attempts) and so I am left with pumping the saw on full throttle until it runs. Then its generally absolutely fine for the rest of the day. Though still won't start with the choke after a break.....

Any suggestions? Cheers!

They usually run badly when the uninitiated adjust the carb not knowing what they are doing. Just set it back to factory and adjust from that point.

I take it the air filter is nice and clean9_9

Thanks Spud, yeah the air filter is probably a month old and I know to clean it regularly. These saws are very sensitive. But I haven't fiddled with the carb because I don't trust myself to get it right. I can tweak a 200 carb but these ones I have no mastery over what so ever!

Need a spud instruction video nudge nudge

What oil are you running it on. Are you using the primer before cold starting it?

Don't go fiddling with the carb settings, if it's running fine the rest of the time it's unlikely to be the issue and you can bugger up a perfectly good saw if you don't know what you're playing with.

Mine runs faultless on hp Rd or hp super, but runs like a bag of shit on hp ultra.

Worth checking/changing the spark plug for good measure. That should give a good indication of the carb settings too.
