Lol  :) It almost seems like a conspirator-planned joke against me :D But to re-summarize, I am not throwing knives at the tree, I am extremely worried about the generation old tree dying as a result of my unknowing actions.

Thank you and have a great day

How much money do you have? If you have lots and would rather have a lot less then phone Bartletts - Google will help you find the nearest ‘branch’ (see what I did there?!).

They will definitely have a remedy to sell to you. If you believe them and are happy to spend the money it will possibly make up for your knife-wielding barbarism. They probably also have a potion for flies too!

Please let us know how you and the tree get on.

They also offer a very effective car flattening service!

He should use it, it will limit how far he can travel to throw knives into other trees.

Does anyone have any actual advice? I am doing the mulching and watering, but I am not sure that will do anything.
That was the actual advice, trees sort themselves out, have been doing it for a long time before we got here. The resin coming out of the cuts is the visible response to the wounds, but there will be all sorts of stuff going on inside the tree as well.
