Hi All

Long shot but wondering if any of the engineering types would have any idea what the item in the pics is. Recovered from Bristol Channel off Hinckley.

It's part of a detent locking mechanism, spring loaded ball bearing goes into spherical indentations so it can be held in different positions, possibly to hold a flap open at different positions. Used on shafts in car. gearboxes to hold gearstick in gear

Thanks for that, few onboard had suggested something similar with the detentes but the shape at the end is throwing most. I did a job a  couple of years ago off Belgian coast and what turned out to be a B17g was identified on the cable route, we ended up with a guy onboard whom had a complete parts manual for that model and was able to confirm the identity using a retaining ring we recovered from the port wing landing lights made from non ferrous material which had survived pretty much in as new condition.
