Who's still burning?

Having lived in a static for over 2 years (and two winters!) we moved into the house a fortnight ago. In my new house I have a new wood fired range cooker that does all heating and hot water. I have had it going flat out morning noon and night ever since! Just love it.

Being able to have scalding hot showers is something I have been dreaming of for a very long time.

Also installed an oil boiler for back up but that isn't even turned on.

In the lounge there is a 5KW log burner, jeepers that makes it nothing more than sitting in your underpants hot.

I tell the missus the deal is I will always make sure there are dry logs to burn and will never complain how many she uses. Not many folk can tell the missus to have the heating on as much as she likes.

Christ, you are on the minority there! I’m constantly moaning about how hot it is whenever I come in from working outside.
And she’s constantly saying to bring more wood in!

Get her to bring it in then :)

My missus carts the logs indoors not me.

Not wanting to touch next years logs so carefully cut up some old fence posts full of metal so I can keep my fire going. Can’t be long now
The scrap men will be in tears once your secret to burning metal gets out!

Still lighting the wood burner on occasional especially cold nights here. Not too bothered about it apart from the faff of it. I'm quite happy to burn up the rat contaminated dregs of logs from this particular stack as I've got a load of cords waiting to be processed and stacked but currently no free bays.

It was a record breaking April in terms of frosty nights and low temperatures so not really a surprise. Not right though is it?
