It annoys me the number of customers, wealthy and respectable who ask me to break the law and take cash payments..

Is this to harsh a reply?

Unfortunately we have to pay VAT. Intentional evasion of VAT is a criminal offence under section 72(1) of the Value Added Tax Act 1994. It is a serious offence carrying a possible prison sentence of 7 years. Charges can also be brought under the Fraud Act 2006.

Quite understandable once a business grows past the one man band stage with credit and employees.

Otherwise, surely going out on the odd Saturday morning, 200t in hand and bagging cheeky amounts of filthy lucre for very little outlay, is one of the great perks of our trade?

Also, those who find liquidating cash an encumbrance need more imagination.

Holidays, hobbies and 'hores are all great ways in which to dispose of filthy lucre.

I have always regarded your comments/entries on this forum with the utmost respect. I actually mean that sincerely, not tongue in cheek. However, I could not possibly respond to this latest post of yours on such a public forum like this as honestly as I would like to!!
