Zigzag wearing out

I’ve had my zigzag two years now and it’s just started to creep a touch today.

 

How long are people getting from theirs roughly?

I have previously posted this same question as mine wore out after a year and a half .
If you think a) not every day is necessarily a climbing day
b) sometimes you might only be on some small stuff
c) some jobs you’re more on spikes and less ‘rope heavy’ .....I think it’s a bit poor personal.
I sent mine back to Petzl which was a joke.
They had never heard of Cousin Atrax rope, which when I pointed out had been designed specifically for the Zig Zag and other mechanicals.....their reply was “according to who?”
I then bought the latest Zig Zag which is just starting to creep already after less than a year!
I shall be buying a Roperunner Pro which has the advantage of better adjustability , supposedly smoother and has replaceable parts that might be subject to wear.
As a result of Petzls quite frankly shitty attitude and obvious ignorance to the market place they trade in, I’ll not be choosing Petzl as a brand for anything ....apart from for those salty covered bar snacks.....oh hang on a minute ...[emoji848]

My ZZ was creeping and a bit of WD40 on the top link, a blow out with the compressor and it’s as good as gold.

My last one lasted 3 years before any creep showed. I do tend to climb fairly hard and used it with a rope wrench on srt as well.

 I must confess I’m not so keen on the new one, it’s to bulky and doesn’t fit the hand so nicely

I presume wear on the metal parts slowly but surely reduces grip on the rope.

My plan was to give it a bloody good clean and lubricate as you say Mick and try again.

Think you are absolutely right it’s pretty short lifespan for an expensive bit of kit.

In my case a build up of gunk had caused the top link to become sticky.

 

I have switched back to a Blake’s for a lot of work as I got pissed off with the self tending when I didn’t want it.
