I'm not generally a religious chap, but when you're down there at the lowest ebb, feeling like it's just too much to struggle on, wondering how you'll ever take another step forward, it's some feeling when you look up and see the hand of god literally on your shoulder giving you the sense you're not alone and things just got really easy...

Ok, it's the hand of Tom, but beggars can't be choosers!

Anyway, I was so grateful for the timely intervention from a higher power than I, I went to my place of worship at lunchtime and paid tribute.

Praise be.

Knocked two (big) limbs off a (big) sycamore to make room to fell two spruce. Ringed it up, chipped the bits.

Climbed the first spruce, left a rope in it, put the other end on the digger. Tea time, down tools, get called into the (digger driver) customer's house. His wife has made us breakfast.

Back outside, fell one spruce, chip the bits and leave it in lengths. Climb the second spruce, slowly, following the hearty breakfast. Rope, digger, pull, chip, lengths.

Not a bad day, to be honest.

Tbh, I would not be able to eat that, and I’d be a bit annoyed to have that it in front of me without warning.

I have breakfast at home before goin to work and bring lunch.

At the most I’d be happy with a ‘bacon sandwiches at 10.30 ok?’

Look at it as a brunch, so you can go light on your real lunch, I was and still am happy for food to be put down in front of me, and that brekkie did look good😀

Normally I do prefer to graze instead of nosh out when I'm climbing, a full stomach takes blood away from the rest of the body, so little and often to keep the blood sugar levels up is better... but it's so, so important not to offend the customer. You might not be invited back.
