The Wee Chipper Club

I looked into a roller trailer for mine but ended up with a small plant trailer with loading ramp. It gave me more capacity as I could chip into my pickup, then chip into tonne bags, strap the chipper back on and load logs around it. It means I can get more on my small setup than I could if I had a tow behind chipper or a roller trailer.

yep smart move as your getting the most out of your kit that way:thumbup1:

Thing is, I've got a larger cage side trailer that I could put it in if I needed the space. It would be nice to leave the chipper on the trailer when I wheel it into the shed so I want a fairly small one for that reason.

Will they not chip straight into a pickup off of a roller trailer? I generally put a sheet down under the tailgate of the truck to catch any stray bits, and tip it in the back when I'm done

your sheet idea is a good one and it will be fine.

When possible I leave the chipper strapped to the trailer, turn the spout 90° ish and park the trailer across the back of the pickup. That cuts the distance from spout to pickup bed.

yep i do this too, allied to a cable lock from the chipper chassis to the trailer frame rail or truck towbar in case me relatives errrr the Irish Caravan Club come by and try to lift the chipper into the back of a transit box van:001_rolleyes:

Just a quick note to warn that cable locks are extremely easy to cut. Even the thick ones, and even the armoured ones are all easy to defeat. If you want to provide a more effective deterrent, you'd likely be much better off with a decent chain, and by that I don't mean the Chinese tat you tend to see in the likes of Halfords. Feel free to e-mail or PM me if you'd like any advice, as security is our day job ...and we're hoping to take delivery of our CS100 later this week :001_smile:

Just taken a look back at when this thread started as a link from another thread directed me there, Fletcher Stewart parting company with Jo Beau because of price hikes. After them Vermeer UK & then to ourselves, in the first year it was a struggle getting back on the map but with no price rise this helped. In the second year a considerable price drop to further help us establish our place back in the market, this year you will be pleased to know there are no price increases, in fact some models have dropped marginally.

With this help from Jo Beau I do believe we now have piece of the cake again.

I got a second hand jo beau 500 last year that is about 8 years old. It shows it in the body but its still chipping great! I got some new blades and controls to get it back in shape. You dont see them very much second hand, think I got lucky. I supose it will jusy take some time for 2nd hand once to be out there, they seem to be sought after and selling . . .
