What size of a chip does your machine produce ?
Can the size be homogeneous ?
Does the chip size has variables that it depends upon, such as type of wood, dry, soft etc ?

Not sure if you meant in general.... This is for our machines.

Shreds will deviate in size, from 1 x 1 cm to 2 x 3 cm. However, the thickness is evenly around 3 mm. I tested wood chips in my own wood-burning stove and the heat that was generated was amazing. You will have to use a modern wood stove with an efficiency of over 90%, otherwise the consumption is too high.

Here's a picture of the chips.

Or have a look at my Instagram 'haeckslercompany'
You will find a short video with chips, 2nd in line or so.

Have a nice weekend

How do you dry/season the chips before you use them?  I have a JB300 and a 25KW biomass boiler for my home setup but if I can use my woodchips in the boiler (and internal 5KW stove of high efficiency) before my wife uses them for top dressing the flower beds, I'm all ears!

Sure 4k is a lot of money, but still just the equivalent of about two big chain saws.

In my days in tree care I was pretty prudent before investing as well, but buying a good small chipper really saved me a lot of time and effort.

You must be joking. Surely you mean four or five or six big chainsaws?

I've staved off buying a wee chipper for a long time,
Won't be able to for much longer. But what I don't get is a Hyundai/Rock 14hp 4" is about £1500, whereas the cs80/100/m300/m400 etc is 3-4 times the price.
I've used the cs100 on various occasions and it's a solid bit of kit which holds a decent resale price.
Just can't understand why they are so expensive?
