I need to refresh my driving in spikes ticket.

My takeaway from that course was “crashing is generally preferable to attempting an emergency stop”.

First bloody day I had my newer pair of Airstreams, I stood on the left one with my right spike. I was also the first entry in the DT lab’s accident book in about 1998 for sanding my own thumb. Teacher thought it was hilarious.

I won a pair of type A at Jonesies show one time.  I didn’t like the feel of them.

i took them to Norway with me and left them there and used them when I was contracting before I moved here.

I may have worn them once or twice in the UK but only ever bought all round protection and used them.

I will add, I only use pfanner Arborist front protection over here in Norway.

Back in 95, when I did my 10 weeker at Merrist Wood we had to wear all round protection trousers.
There were two types, Blue and Green.
They were like instruments of torture, especially as it was June/July.
As soon as I left and started for a firm that didn’t enforce any PPE (including helmets) I eschewed the trousers and wore jeans.
It was only around the turn of the century when I subbed for a firm that insisted that I revisited them and found newer, lighter more comfortable sorts.

Oh, the old school Stihl all round protection were horrendous.

I bought a pair of the first stretch airs when they came out.  Mainly because they did them with a 7cm longer leg.

They fitted me Like a pair of jeans.  Pretty light and comfortable and no where near as hot as the old Stihl blue with orange stripe or black with orange stripe.

So I just got on with it and wore them.  Once you get used to them then it isn’t a bother IMO.

I have lost count of how many pairs I have had.  But not worn any other brand since.
