Reading through i would say on percentage profit for those of a dark black soul persuasion, i used to work on  a lot of development sites where nothing  under 12" on tracks would do. BUT after all considered i know the percentage daily profit on those days was less than yr Scots man there, on his days, they say size isnt everything  😉 but thats true of business too. Certainly in Rail. Dont think cos you won a 5 million pound contract, you will be keeping it all, you will be giving most ( possibly all)  of it elsewhere. K

Most people on here started with nothing, I know I did.

Rather than ‘educating us’ on starting up you should listen to those who’ve been in similar situations in the past.

Anyway Happy Xmas and all that.

I would like to see folk on this site forming hubs which are near each other and we can all use the same chipper because like planes, taxis and trains they only make money when working and not when in a shed.

How much tree work do you think doesn't require a chipper?

I've still got most of it left!

(Got more debt though.)

Bigger the contract, lower the profit percentage usually?

Its like me, its disappeared. 😉

I'm adding up all my spending since April 2020, all the money I get in gets spent on equipment but running out of room now.

You make such silly statements to seasoned guys who are experts in this field.

I don't have a fixed mindset like most experts but a flexible mindset and open to all avenues of working.

And by your own admission you primarily do window cleaning and gardening. Yet you're lecturing bona fide tree surgeons (Not me, i'm new to it.) on chippers? If you did "proper" tree work you'd know that a portable chipper isn't quite up to the task and chipping into a wheelie bin is a giveaway to the size of job you're doing.

He owned Friarshall Hotel and was called Godfrey Fleming. I have wrote a book called Friarshall which an author is proof reading it so it will be out in the summer. I will make it free to down load on kindle. I just don't have the time to work with him at the moment or it would be well finished.

Fair play, I'll read it when it's available. How did you make him the richest man in Paisley?

I made £32k last year and spent £27k on stuff. This year I have made up till now £33k and spent nearly as much and still have 3 months left to go. It's good to get constructive criticism gets everyone thinking about better efficiency and different ways of working. I don't have a fixed mindset like most experts but a flexible mindset and open to all avenues of working. Remember "fantasy is the first step to success" 😉

For someone trying to educate others you lived on £100 a week from  £32k ?? Xmas day and not getting into this nonsense. Your spouting tosh again. You have sated that you have a good pension and a window cleaning round but most of the guys on here apart from eggs work full time in arb.
