I am but not the latest models, not a fan of diggytal in saws.  K

Hmm, you'll have to have a play with the Autotune saws i've got. I really like them, they work perfectly for me. Have you had issues with the Autotune saws before? I know some early 540/550s had issues with hot starting.

My 572 is a great saw, there's nothing about it i'd change.

I had one just the same, went back and forth to dealer for 12mths and never did run properly so chucked it in shed and forgot about it,bought another Echo after that and had trouble with that aswell,so won,t bother again with them

a good dealer would have fixed or replaced that saw.  Echo offered me a full refund or a brand new saw several years ago when i had some issues with a 360TES climbing saw. I cannot fault their backup and support.

An underrated saw is the Husqvarna 450,  a real ball of fire with no auto tune.  Will pull a 15'' bar n' chain easily and i reckon it cud cope with an 18'' b&c from time to time. kicking meself as i missed out and a brand new one a few weeks back for around the £300 mark.

Have been looking one of these as seen quite a few positive comments .. .probably weighing that up against the 550XP as I'll probably have / use this for years to come so trying to work out if the 550's worth the extra for my type of usage and what the actual benefits would be.

How does this compare to the 455 rancher, and what's your thoughts on the rancher for occasional work ?
