Scabbards

So I've bought a couple of Sugihara bars (18 and 25") and very nice they are too but they arrive in a cardboard sleeve and though not a pro I do a lot (OK, some) work for friends and family so they get tossed into the back of the pick-up and generally knocked around. What do you guys use to protect the chain from wheel-barrow rims, other saws, etc when moving them around? There are plenty of 18" scabbards on the bay but 25"+ is just not there.

 

Or do you just wrap them in hessian?

Buy two scabbards, cut the nose off one and slide it all the way down to the power head, then put the complete one over the rest.

You can get ones that are extendable to suit upto 25",i got one but cant remember where i got it

You can buy Stihl scabbards in whatever size? 30" 25". What size do you want?

Avoid ebay and buy from a dealer direct, as in go in to the shop, or order off a dealer online, cheaper than ebay too. L&S Engineers are good for all parts in general regards saws.

You can buy scabbards in most sizes, or just take the bar and chain off the power head when you have finished and put it back on when you want to do the next work.

I buy Stihl ones off ToolsToday. Up to 36", plus extenders for bigger bars.

 

Stihl ones are the best, don't buy the Husqvarna scabbards, they're crap.

Strewth  ,that is much cheaper than I was expecting - even with postage. I’ve got one for my 30”-er too.
