Timberwolf woodchipper value

Hi all,

I have finally decided after much deliberation to up grade my trusty old timberwolf chipper. I've owned this for nearly 18 years and it has very rarely gone wrong. have done all the maintenence, upgrades and repairs myself.

It it a Tw26/150 with a Lombardini Ld9 29 hp diesel engine, originally had a Honda petrol which was useless. Single hydraulic roller. No - stress, etc.

Has recently had new hydraulic motor, recent full overhaul, main bearings, anvil etc. and a new starter motor.

the chassis was replaced with a braked version a few years ago as the original was not fit for purpose.

So, my question to ask is, what should I be asking for this? I have a chipper salesman coming out to give me a trade in price but I'd like to know roughly what it's worth before he offers me a stupidly low price.

Do I sell privately or trade it in to avoid the tyre kickers!

Anyone here interested? I know this isn't the right place for classifieds but I'm not sure what to put it up for.

She isn't worth a great deal, couple of grand maybe on a trade in? If you trade it in, it is a simple transaction- done and dusted. If you sell privately,  you'll get a bit more but inevitably,  selling her is going involve advertising,  waiting for people coming to view, make daft offers, kick tyres etc and then you might be without a machine for a while until the new one arrives?

Yeah, I think a trade in is the easiest way forward but I'd like to get maximum value for the old girl, she's been a good friend over the years, very reliable.

Now this, THIS reads like 'Triggers broom'

Only teasing, I like continuity, owning a chipper for so long is remarkable.

If you get a derisory offer is it worth selling? With the problems some have had with new machines why not keep it as a back up until you are confident you can manage without it.

Ye trade it as Peteb said above, you will get arsed about left right and centre and then there is another issue to consider, and that is some one comes to look at it with no interest in buying at all but with times like they are at the moment and its only going to get worse, i personally would not let any body i didnt know where it is,,, There is a lot of opertunists out there ,

Thanks Stuart, that made me laugh.

I guess it is a little like triggers broom but it's not the same beast it was originally. Its evolved into something better.

the only thing that let's it down is the single roller which we've lived with over the years, it just takes a bit of carful 'brash management' to get the job done.

It's the same with the Dosko on the team I was helping with, I always ended up as the brash dragger chipper feeder, it does the job with care but it's frustrating when you have used a chipper that you can drop a piece in and just walk away. Also the fumes were becoming a problem with my breathing and the noise is an embarrassment in urban situations BUT it's better than nothing.
