Just been looking at the MDL mega split, like the idea of a log lift and the way the ram pushes the log through the axe, seems more efficient, don't get the log stuck on the ram.

Hi all, thinking of buying a log splitter but can't decide on what to buy. There doesn't seem to be much choice out there compared with the US market. I really like the machines made by Eastonmade in Canada but way too expensive to import, I know there is a company in the UK that supply them but again way too much compared with others available. Yes, the noise is a bit loud. The worst thing is when the customer wants to watch the chipper in action and you can see the physically wincing as their ear drums shatter!! The Lombardini engine is not too 'fumey' unless I've put chip fat in the tank! Then it just smells like the back door of a chip shop!

I'd often thought of doing that but the opportunity never presented itself and as wasn't really necessary I didn't seek it out. had q quick look on FB but couldn't see anyone breaking a timberwolf.

Thanks Stuart, that made me laugh. I guess it is a little like triggers broom but it's not the same beast it was originally. Its evolved into something better. the only thing that let's it down is the single roller which we've lived with over the years, it just takes a bit of carful 'brash management' to get the job done.

Yeah, I think a trade in is the easiest way forward but I'd like to get maximum value for the old girl, she's been a good friend over the years, very reliable.

Hi all, I have finally decided after much deliberation to up grade my trusty old timberwolf chipper. I've owned this for nearly 18 years and it has very rarely gone wrong. have done all the maintenence, upgrades and repairs myself. It it a Tw26/150 with a Lombardini Ld9 29 hp diesel engine, originally had a Honda petrol which was useless. Single hydraulic roller. No - stress, etc. Has recently had new hydraulic motor, recent full overhaul, main bearings, anvil etc. and a new starter motor. the chassis was replaced with a braked version a few years ago as the original was not fit for purpose. So, my question to ask is, what should I be asking for this? I have a chipper salesman coming out to give me a trade in price but I'd like to know roughly what it's worth before he offers me a stupidly low price. Do I sell privately or trade it in to avoid the tyre kickers! Anyone here interested? I know this isn't the right place for classifieds but I'm not sure what to put it up for.
