The FarmerTec etc are real saws many are finding ok and Genuine Stihl isn't always the greatest thing since sliced Bread! How many Pigs have they made? Be it saws or Strimmers also toys ive a pair of Heavy duty cutters the fixing bolt they hinge on isn't long enough to reach the nylon part in the nylock nut! and can't get the bump rubber which stops them over closing!

Stihl litre bottles of blue 2 stroke oil can't close top down properly to stop it leaking as just a soft threaded part of bottle so leaks everywhere and your only using a tiny amount each time so bottle needs to last a fair while!
yet Chain oil which you most likely use in one has a proper plastic bottle! Go Figure!

Farmertec are copies. Bad ones.
With no CE or BS safety stamps.
It’s that old classic...
Budget parachute... etc.

Stihl don’t make a blue two stroke oil.
Only red or green.

Yep. I’m a saw snob.!!!!!!
I want a saw with functioning safety features!!!
I’d rather spend an extra few hundred quid and know I’ve bought a machine with legal recompense.
Just not stupid or desperate enough to want a fake saw.
I mean...
What could go wrong??????

Each to their own. :)

Like I say dont have one.  Im just making a point that lumping every saw made in China together is inherently wrong. Ive not looked into the legalities of the Farmtec saws.

They've sold over 10,000 of the G660 now. Thats mad. If they where even remotely as bad as being made out Im sure it would be well know.

I wonder if Stihl has a done a comparison with this saw or thought better of it as it works as well as their own?

Ive never used or seen one of these saws in action other than joining some pages on FB and they seem to have an almost cult following now. Reviews seem to really good. Their warranty on parts seems to be great as well. Every single genuine Stihl part will swap right over. The Chinese sure know how to reverse engineer thats for sure. With the patents expiring on a lot of Saws what they are doing is not even illegal anymore. A lot of guys seem to be swapping out the standard oiler with a Stihl HO one and a few other components as well.

Many are using the G660 as a Milling saw and have a couple of years hard use on them.

They are supposedly bringing out a G880 this month, I'll be watching that with interest.

Not sure if its the same Chinese saw above though.

Are you looking for Holzfforma chainsaw and Stihl Husqvarna chainsaw parts ? farmertec.com has them, with fast...

Andy the Farmertec are totally different saws from the ones in the original post, the only thing a genuine Stihl and the saws in the add above have in common is orange and white, they are a cheap chinease cloned copies that nothing off a genuine Stihl would fit, look at the Ebay add and it does catch a lot of people out and that how Stihl is spelt both on the saw casing and on the bar Sthil,,, not quite right and thats why people thin they have just bought the deal of the century,

I was going to say - I’m no saw expert but from a look at the photo, it was pretty clearly a different saw. More like one of these with a few different stickers on and a significant price mark-up...

The 52cc petrol chainsaw with its powerful stroke engine. 1 x Chainsaw. Stroke: 2 Stroke. Added safety and performance features like anti-kickback, anti-vibration, and an automatic chain oiler will make the task at hand effortless.

My point was not all Stihl copies are made of cheese. And being made in China does not mean they are automaticly junk. :)

Depends on what you want. A genuine 660 will take a 42" bar and cut fine with that, every time you need it for 10-20 years. The Farmtec on will do that but is likely to detonate prematurely!

If you look at the parts, they are just not made the same, the bore plating is like cheese. A carbide burr will need forcing through the Nikasil plating on Stihl/Husqvarna cylinders. On AM Chinese cylinders it is like the plating isn't really there.

I had a 660 in once, the crank end had been damaged....don't ask. I got through two Chinese cranks, one split in two and the big end detonated on the other! Never seen a 660 OEM crank fail through anything than fuel error or the PTO shaft breaking through abuse!

The manufacturers spend millions obtaining CE, BS, TUV etc accreditation, the Chinese just copy the parts so they look similar but in engineering specs, they just aren't right!

Guys get excited about getting something that looks like a 660 for £250 but if you are in to running a business, having reliable & SAFE equipment then those clones are not really up to much.

Then there is the residual and resale price........

You can obviously get some decent quality products out of China but many like CHEAP, it is like a virus, CHEAP is good.....well it can be GOOD but generally CHEAP is CRAP and you get what you pay for!

You just have to work out how much you are paying for the brand and how much for the product and if there are any other better options!
