Nobody seems to realise that the Herberts who did this could actually be following this story on here. Just a thought to be aware of.

The thought did occur to me but, I’m beyond caring. I have to explore all avenues. I’d be surprised if they actually knew what an arborist is ?

All jokes aside. If they don’t know by now that I’m looking for them - after all the messages and calls - then they are idiots. So if they are following... hello idiots

Well, maybe knowing they have people after them trying to locate them, taking registration no., Reporting them etc might at least cut down their business activities. Plus having a thread with as many of their details online as possible means a Google search will out them as a bunch of pikies

Well I hope we get somewhere with this one. There are too many good guys doing a good job having their trade trashed by a few hrse aoles who are happy to take £3k from a 80 year old pensioner for a £400 job and leave when they have trashed the job.

My old dad got some "good blokes" to do a mornings job a long while ago, took down his phone line, took him to his bank for payment...a few hundred £££ and then buggered off in to the distance - I was bloody livid but what can you do, a neighbour binned them off and then they did a door knock and bingo, my old boy got done over.

Sorry to say we hear this happening every week, the one they use often is take the full money say they will be back tomorrow with a chipper to finish the job. Never to be seen again..........

This lot can't be shamed or brought to court. Police are scared to even stop them driving around. My mate is a cop was told only to stop if you have mob handed backup ( Police Scotland )

This has been going on for years, it’s not just gypos that do it, I’m forever coming across new one man bands with a van and a chainsaw. People use them because they’re “ value for money” then they’re left with damage or a shit load of waste not cleared up. People knock the AA but they do give a company some credibility that they have at least made an effort to prove that at some point of time they have been vetted and reached a point where that company is doing the right things.

The only problem with the AA club / group if one bad apple happens to mess up then all are tarred with same brush. Example is Corgi gas fitters, new club formed gas safe until it happens again. We have traded for 35 years on our own without being within a club / group ( but it is better than nothing for some ). Trust a trader is the perfect storm pays your money then your working. Man with a van / transit they will always be there. No training apart from youtube.

Seen a couple of AA certified companies screw up jobs. Its no guarantee. I like the idea of a sting op. Even if its a monitoring OP it will put the wind up them. Vehicle plates can get swapped, tools hidden but it all adds to the anxiety they end up facing in an area. Back in my salad days i once drove a taxi in winter. The boss kept getting a few calls to pick people up -  who were obvs not there. He knew it was a competitor so he got us to stop at phone boxes ( remmeber those!) and make a few calls ourselves - it soon stopped ?  K
