Tree ident please

Brought down in last week's storm, big ol tree over 2ft diameter at the base. My first thought was beech but now I'm not so sure.

I would guess some form of poplar, possibly a hybrid of some sort.

 

It's not a common beech.

What are the back of the leaves like? I had similar leaves on a tree last week, kick round at the tip. I reckon that one is goat willow.

This . Except I think its White Poplar . Diamond patterns on the bark .

I'd say white poplar as well because of the diamond patterns

Forgot to mention, couldn't measure height of tree but I reckon its over 20m, bark shown is about half way up.  Also I found some leaves that I thought were collateral damage from a different tree but reading up on poplar may not be

Those leaves do match with white poplar so Stubby has it.

Now it makes sense! It was white poplar bark, but the leaves didn’t match.

The second set of leaves do.
