I have only done this twice in about 14 years, storm grade rain in connie monsters warrants it.

I got given a pair of old North face gore tex salopettes, they were great at keeping me dry. They were a bit nippit when I got them and after a few years were too tight, so i passed them to my groundie. I now have some bergaus ones that were over £100 new, and they work fine too.

Berghaus Deluge are pretty good, just a shell so not too warm, and well priced.

Zip up nice and high to get on over chainsaw boots, which is vital.

I was given a pair of Paramo ones as well which are excellent but a bit warmer.

I use commercial fishing bib and brace. Hot, but 100% waterproof and don't get destroyed working in the woods.  Breathable waterproofs don't breathe when wet so are pointless if it is raining hard
