I’m struggling to understand what it is you’ve actually done....

Are you saying you paid someone £600 on the empty promise that they’d get you some leads with customers you’ve never met and at prices they won’t question....

I’m genuinely at a loss for words!

You just rock up there, do a bit of grass cutting, then send the bill in. That'll be £7,956+VAT. Thanks muchly.

Sounds painful. Do you get a legal helpline with your business insurance or any other insurance policy?

I'd be making some calls, you need proper advice about whether your claim has a solid grounding - on the face of it you should but they are probably the sort of bastards who know how to weasel out of a refund.

Dan, that's a good idea cheers. Will give insurance a call.

They must have big windows. :D If I fell for that I think Id be keeping it very quiet and putting it down to a lesson learned.

Well, to be honest I posted for two reasons - 1.) to see if anyone had any advice regarding small claims court or such, and 2.) to warn others.

We all make silly mistakes here and there, and I've certainly learnt by this one.

I got tucked up for a couple of hundred quid, 20 years back by some outfit saying they published a magazine for coppers.

Initially said yes, then got an invoice a couple of days later, I phoned saying I’d changed my mind and he said they’d taped my call which was valid as a contract, it was a police publication with the full legal authority etc...

Sent the chèque off.

I learnt it then, you learnt it now.
