Large felling saw

Not a big job, im sure 90% of saw users could fit another pump.

 

As for use of oil, it cured the problem on mine. It used to run a bit dry when running longer bars, especially on such as ash.

My 660 had the same issues with chain adjustment and low oil delivery.

Found it a little strange how many owners on here who have 660s had the same problem but Stihl said they never heard of it:confused1:

066 with a 25" bar, no oil problem that i have noticed, and an 880 with a 36" bar both have loades of power..........

Had my 66 for 10 years, its had a few bars, loads of chains and very little else!!

iv had 3, 2 got nicked good saw 25" bar never needed anything any bigger ,its the man behind the saw ,not the saw behind the man:biggrin:

Always been a stihl man, with a 36 and 48 for the 088, but i have just got a husky 390xp coz i used one and was really impressed with it, running a 28 inch bar. Really gutsy yet light (after 088!), really smooth and it has 2 piston rings (which has always been a big plus in stihls favour for me) and bridges the gap between the ms362 and the 088 perfectly i find. Having said that, if i didnt already have the 088 i would have almost certainly gone for a 660 stihl.

I've got a Makita dcs9010 with 30" bar. Only downside is no decompression on it so at 90cc can make starting fun.

One thing i will praise the 660 over the 395 is the chainbreak being a bit stronger as its mounted both sides.. The 660 break would be more robust if you were climbing with it regularly.

 

chainbrake me be stronger..but i bought mine from new and the chainbrake still doesn't go on after the saw has been used for 10 mins. also the handle with throttle at bottom seems to have a problem.

 

I would go for husky next time.
