PRESS.HSE.GOV.UK

This is an extremely worrying time for firms and workers. We know many workers, union reps and employers have...

But If it comes to the HSE’s attention that employers are not complying with the relevant Public Health England guidance (including enabling social distancing where it is practical to do so),

Where its practical to do so? :D Well thats cleared that up then.

Me n' She are out doing a small emergency call out this morning, pricing at lunchtime and then a small reduction in the afternoon. Easy enough for us to keep clear of customers and get the job done with little or no interruption. I only intend on doing some work with my Wife as 'Groundess' as the lads are all self isolating and keeping clear of social contact.

Funnily enough the letter from the minister contains the same wording as the gov.uk website.

I think we have to find ways of working with the virus, it is nasty and contagious but it's not Novichok nerve agent. So far I've only done jobs on my own, easy to keep separate and not exchange anything with the customer but more solid advice about procedures would be good from the AA.

Pretend all the tools are covered with shite? I bet eggsarascal can manage not to lick his fingers in the middle of a job.

Conversation with a potential customer yesterday

How much to fell and remove this tree leaving 6ft of stump so I can train clematis up it

£400

That’s a lot more than I was hoping to pay, can you do any better?

No sorry, that’s competitive, it’s not good for business to work for less.

But you won’t have to take away 6ft of trunk, doesn’t that make a big difference?

No

Can you suggest anything else?

You can try calling a different firm

You’re the third company to quote for it, all three have said £400

Looks like that’s the going rate for this job then doesn’t it

Is there anything else you could suggest?

I’m chuckling now, “You could have a go yourself”

I wouldn’t know how and don’t have a chainsaw or anything

All that equipment and training is expensive eh? I have to go now, give me a call if you decide you’d like us to cut it down for you.

:D
