Yeah I can see that. Even out here though there’s still a sense of guilt about carrying on- but really it’s an unfounded feeling. I’ve got more chance of sneezing over my garden fence and spreading it then out here!

Hi all. Being a family firm & showing no signs of being affected we called todays customers who were happy for us to carry out the jobs as we wouldn't need face to face contact & are working at the ends of their gardens.. Obviously there is little traffic about & the saws/chipper sound has attracted attention & a few people have taken pics on their phones so rather than have bad publicity I think we'll shut shop & hope the guidelines come soon for the self employed to access the govt's contribution during this outbreak.
 

I can total understand your logic there, we ain’t doing any domestic work. I think it would potentially piss a lot of people off seeing a tree crew out working whilst they can’t.

Only isssue imo with carrying out work now in remote places is what if there is an accident and you need the NHS especially in the coming days when things really kick off.....

There was boffin on radio 4 today saying that the govt needs to be careful how many people in the population they stop from working.

 

There is a very real risk that in an overly severe economic shutdown scenario we will see more lives lost as a result of the shut down than are saved by protecting people from the virus.

 

It's a complicated old situation.

Boffin is one of my favourite words. That and Ouagadougou (Capital of Burkina Faso).

I thought that having thay one boffin on R4 might of being  tory plant. Im not sure his one thorectical study its the general boffin consesus.

 

As for PHE rules with regards to working saw loads of breaking the 2m rules today when I went for my goverment sanctioned exercise allowance.

 

5 road workers crowded round a hole  with one lad down the hole. Builders 3 across in front seat of vans, and working indoors in loads of domestic properties. All the holiday lets with multiply audi and Range rovers parked out front. (must be several families together)
