So on a £400+ tool they cheap out on a decent conformal coating on the PCB that literally cost them pennies to epoxy coat the thing during manufacture on a professional grade tool.

Great job Stihl when Lidl probably build it better for a quarter of the price.

Use the Husqvarna grease, it's thinner than the stihl one. They only need a thin coating. I can't comment on the new offering from Stihl that come with an actual grease plug, as we've not had any come back so far

Thanks for the advice.

Was using spray grease but think that has caused the problem with the trimmer keep cutting out.

Makitas cordless one has being  faultless since  it has had   new £2.50 bearings after they failed after only  1 week.

The warranty, I could not be asked the hassle of  claiming  it, but luckly was a straighforward job to fit new bearings. The   PCB & motor etc & everything inside  was covered all over  in grease but it wiped of with a kitchen roll.

Also found the the HLA86 rubbish in comparison just doesn't like anything  but the thinner stuff  maybe the more pricey HLA135 is better.

What type of grease would you recommend.

Thanks

I haven't used the Husqvarna grease as suggested but stihl recommend their hedge trimmer grease. Only use a tiny bit on all of the contact points.
