what is wrong with everybody, have we become a cotton wool wrapped society, what did your forefathers do, "sorry we cant do that, we dont have a bit of paper for it", no, they got on with it and did it, ........watch you tube, ask questions on a forum, but most importantly, get out and do it, actuall hands on learning, time on equipment, and dont give the PC group any ideas that we might actually have an opening to scam more money of people and design a "ticket" for milling, or that'll be the next expense

I agree, and I asked because I was asked by the body that have the mill. I told them that as far as I was aware there was no formal certification.
As this is new territory for me and them I thought it worth asking the milling community on here. You have all confirmed my initial thoughts on this and I can now move this forward without any further confusion [emoji106]

But no one is suggesting that there should be a ticket requirement, the OP was just asking if there was one or any formal training needed.

You can always teach yourself, books and the internet can be useful too, but I find working face to face with someone with years of experience tends to work best for me.
The only thing that really needs to considered is HSE/PUWER regs if the OP is being paid (working), apart from that crack on.

Hi yep defo lessons not tickets ,I still think it would be cool if one of us arbtalkers who has experience in bandmilling would be up for doing a short day of do and don’t do ,it would be worth while, I have been just getting on with it and it is a big learning curve, frustrating and fun ,my offer still stands if someone is willing to do a day my mill and yard could be used no worries.

Cheers Mark
