very bad vehicle

fine when they work but when they don't, they are massive money, no repair on them is cheap!

a mate brought one having been told not to and he sunk a few k into it within the short time he had it, he now has a 18 plate ranger!

either save up and get a disco 4 or a really well looked after disco 2 with a manual

the disco 3 and 4 start having turbo issues normally at around 110k

Both the D3 and D4 have well know crank issues, look in the LR forums, it’s quite shocking when you see what people have had go wrong!

If I was buying a big older tow rug it would have to be a LC Amazon

dont listen to the bollox spouted by people who have a 'mate' whos had one, they probably cant afford one and drive a rusted old knacker.

Had 3, nothing other than the normal wear and tear stuff you get with any motor.

Nothing out there has the power or comfort of a disco 3/4.

The commercials are good value and pretty easy to put seats in the back. Last one I sold at 140k to move back into a defender before they stopped making them.

Bollox, read the forums the crank issues is a well know issue, one of the most unreliable and problematic vehicles on the road!

And those “sheds” as you call them are holding there money far better than any disco, why because they have good engines and reliability as standard not as as optional extra!

Here is just one!

Haha! I take your Disco and raise you a V10 Touareg. I've got 370bhp ?

Anyway, I second what the others have said, I'd have gone for a LC Amazon if not for the hills around here. They seem to be fairly bulletproof and they also hold their value very well.

I am sure that you can get good Disco 3s and 4s, but I think that they are in the minority. My Disco 4 let me down and was subsequently sold. An incredibly comfortable vehicle though, I'll grant you.

My Nephew has his own Garage specialising in Land Rover and makes a tidy living off the back of the Discovery 3 and 4.

The speed they can split the body off these things is incredible, but literally every time I go there’s another one or two in for an engine or turbos.

I’ve had a lot more luck than most with Land Rover products, mainly bought new and looked after, but no way I’d touch a Discovery 3 or 4 despite being the vehicle I’ve always wanted.

I’d genuinely say if you haven’t a straightforward cushion of around 8k available to hand at any time for a big repair, then leave them well alone.

As with everything there will be good and bad out there, buy as late as possible with warranty is one way, or as I say just be prepared for the worst and hope for the best from the start.

Eddie.

yeah one. they sold thousands.

If you think a shed is better than a disco then there is no helping you. Probably drive a chav wagon.

And your probably an in bred idiot !

I drive amongst other vehicles a 2012 defender, been good but there again there little to go wrong like modern LR cars.
