Make The BBC a TV subscription (pay as you go) channel

To bring this into perspective, the Licence Fee brings in 3.7 billion, while other channels exist through adverts.

We know that the BBC includes other services other than television, but what’s to stop them making their television broadcasts pay as you go?

That way the TV licence could be abolished and, if you couldn’t live without it, you could subscribe to the channel. No more having to reluctantly subsidise a channel you rarely watch. Nor resenting having to pay for what you believe is sometimes adversely biased in some of its reporting.

Of course, its other services may need to advertise to pay to run, but what is the harm in having to be competitive?

I like the BBC as a public broadcast service provider, but some of their TV is utter shite. However, I can't bear adverts, so a licence fee for Radio would be the way I'd suggest going, with TV on subscription.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to admit that I have only watched a telly twice this year.

 

I watched one in a Travelodge just outside Okehampton at the New Year, and the other at a Travelodge just outside Macclesfield in October.

 

I do enjoy the radio though.

Surely the license is a subscription? If you don't watch it, don't subscribe.

I could be wrong but I think if you have a TV that is capable of screening the BBC , even if you never watch it , you have to pay the license fee .

You know I don't like disagreeing with ya bud, but you don't need a tv licence if you don't watch 'live tv', I think the only exception is if you watch i player.
