Opico Skidster or sherpa mini loaders

Looking at getting the pallet forks for my wee sherpa agri, also considering the bucket with grab -   Is the bucket and grab decent enough for grabbing brash?

Shall we just say that it's 'personal preference'? 😆

 

Both have pros and cons. Big open spaces, the brash grab will be best. Trying to drag it down the side of a house- log grab. But why drag down the side of a house and mess up the render etc when you can take a mini chipper in, deal with the brash and then carry the rings out in the grab (of either type....) and the chip in the bucket.

 

How do you plan to integrate a grab into your work?

 

I'm honestly not biased- if you go back through this thread you will find pics of both a log grab and a bucket grab on the same narrow access job. I preferred the bucket grab, but I have both.

I went for a log grab because I think it’s better suited to what I do, and the ball hitch on mine was a big factor, but the bucket grab is more versatile.

 

I’d love to have both.

I initially bought and have mostly  used the log grab mostly and found it best for the kind of work I've been doing - and today was no exception - some stuff to drag out along a narrow path beside a stable and then some stuff felled out into fields  the log grab is perfect. Was considering the bucket with grab for things like loading up the trailer with loose split fire wood - and general loading of the trailer with stuff from the house - the log grab is not the best for loading brash over the sides mop... but the log grab was mint for chucking out the old washing machine and dishwasher  

 

I mounted a tow ball onto the face of log - it works well enough. and cost less than 10 quid - used it for towing the small chipper and arbtrolly about  - nothing heavy. 

 

 I have used the the volume bucket with the wee chipper and it works but it  fills up quick  - considering using pallet forks to hold up a bag and chip into that - if I get the right set up I reckon im on to a winner - chip in the bags - load the bags on the trailer - stash them at the yard - its bagged and ready to sell to local gardeners and the like. 

 

 

Just had a decent sized milling job come in so I think the pallet forks are  to be  next purchase as I think it will be the best to go along with the log grab and bucket I already have.  Will probably keep adding to the collection as I go.

Making itself handy about the yard, makes jobs like this so much easier! Even just being able to move trailers about without unlocking and hitching them up is a massive time saver!

Worky Quad saved the day here towing a 230 over a rough paddock to the base of a big conny, where the chip was staying.

Saved a gruelling 75m dragathon.

when i first got my boxer 427 back in 2011 there just wasn’t the choice off attachments out there. i used to swear by a set of pallet forks and a grab bucket for all of my work until i got a fabricator to make me a branch manager grapple (big in the states at the time) copy which made a huge difference for feeding a chipper or dragging brash out. I also had a post knocker and flail for it and had a stump grinder attachment for it which was truly shocking. ended up part exchanging it around 2015 when i bought another mog and needed a pro chipper. by that point i had a mini digger with a grab and tractor and roof mount so it had become kinda redundant. 

amazing machine and i certainly wouldn’t have the kit i have these days without taking the plunge and spending 8.5k (big outlay in 2011 for me) on a machine i wasn’t sure was going to work out. massively changed the way i worked at the time

Handy for about the home - old dishwasher on the trailer... wasnt allowed to lift the new one up the front steps with it though...
