So my Stihl Strimmer is out of action for a while. I bought it second hand and after 3 years of good service I notice two of the bolts holding the Head onto the shaft have sheared off and another thread is partially stripped out, so there is only one bolt keeping it together. I'll get it fixed but in the mean time I was thinking of getting this machine. Will it be any good for a 1.5 acre plot? Lots of weeds and bracken out the back.

Wold this 52cc machine be up to the task? Seems very cheap.

I know, but my other option would be to buy another used Stihl Strimmer. I really dont know if 52cc is enough?

I would Husqvarna ( as you would ) . My 555RX is a relentless bugger .

I’ve used both Stihl and Husqvarna for years, both make excellent machines but the 555rxt is the best I have used, loads of grunt, I find I can blast through large areas without having it flat out, so good I ordered a 555fxt Clearing Saw for plantation thinning, it has a shorter shaft and thumb throttle control, unfortunately had to get it sent over from Sweden.

I bought two virtually unknown makes that did me for ten years and still work. One’s a bugger to start from hot and both don’t have the comfy ergonomics of a Stihl. The second hand Stihl lets me work for two or three fills without too many aches. The others not so. Haven’t used the others since[emoji1303]

If you have the storage room, have you thought about a second hand rough cut mower like a pedestrian SCAG?

A cheap strimmer with little in the way of anti vibe? Screw that for a game of soldiers. :vollkommenauf:

Doesn't sound like the stihl would take much to fix, and surely it would soon be getting parked up for the winter anyway
